Well,
this was the second time I got to witness a performance of Xavier's rendition
of Jesus Christ Superstar. I must admit, it was better the
second time around, despite Jesus' bed falling over and the subtle hints
of the actors' tiredness. This time around, I also took with me a
more discriminating audience- my aunt, who has seen Jesus Christ Superstar
performed professionally; my mom, who loves the soundtrack and the movie;
my uncle, who sat through the entire performance mouthing the words; my
father, a Vietnam vet himself who thought the play was 'interesting' and
that probably doesn't mean in a good way; my severely ditzy cousin, the
same one who didn't want to leave my dorm during Family Weekend; and lastly,
my cousin Chris, who insisted on wearing a UC jacket and baseball cap to
the play. Oy vay.
The play was better, technically, obviously, as all the kinks had been
worked out since opening night. The actors themselves were tired,
understandably, and it showed. Judas put in a less enthusiastic performance
than the first time, but, somehow, I can't blame him for not being overjoyed
at betraying Christ for the eighth time. Overall, I enjoyed it immensely,
and so did my relatives, except for dad, but, he's a conservative, so,
what did you expect?
Also on Sunday, my roommate moved out. I came back to the dorm to
find the majority of her stuff gone. My parents helped me move around
the room and now I'm in Amy's space. The room looks awfully barren
and I need to get at least another poster to put on the wall. I also
had to go out and buy a new phone, a new white board/tack board, scrub
brush, and various other little odds and ends for the room. The upshot
of this is is that I don't have a roommate for awhile. I seriously
don't mind that. Now my computer is allowed to make noises and I
can take a nap whenever I damn well please. Yay!
