Picture yourself happily asleep, dreaming fun things when...
A very loud noise begins to blare and you think, "Good god, whatever that is, shut it the fuck off!"
Then, your RA pounds on your door and you stumble out of bed, grabbing your glasses (unlike when the robber broke into your home and you ran from the house half blind because you forgot your glasses next to the computer).
Your roommate doesn't let you open the door because she's putting on pants and you mumble, "There just better be a fire or else someone's going to pay!"
You finally open the door and....
Smoke. Shit. That's right- a real fire.
On Monday night, at 1:45 AM, a candle burnt down and started a fire on a table in a room down the hall from me. Very scary. Thankfully, no one was hurt, though the table had to be thrown away. The fire department let us back into the dorm about a half an hour later, but, my roommate and I didn't get to bed until well after 3. So, I skipped my first class the next day. I found out later that the girls who accident started it have to pay a combined fine of $100, promote fire safety, and are on probation. Don't too bad of a deal, considering the trouble.
The next week, we made Police Note of the
Week in the Xavier Newswire.
