I wanted a new computer.
I really, really needed a new printer. Huge lines of ink all over
my papers is not every attractive and is certainly unacceptable to turn
in. So, the Friday when my printer crapped out on me and all the
Word files I had my computer became infected with an unhappy virus, which
caused me to crash three computers in the University Center Computer Lab,
I knew it was time for a whole new system. I had been attempting
to run Win98 on a old Compaq and it just wasn't working out. The
entire system was slow, buggy, and thoroughly obnoxious. The printer
was even older than the computer and obviously defective.
Dad and I went out to
buy a new computer. My solution was to order a nice, happy Gateway.
Dad's was to buy another Compaq. We argued, we got pouty, I didn't
go home with a new computer or a prospective new computer. Easter
Break rolled around. Mom brought up the subject and Dad said, "Oh,
just get on-line and order the damn thing!"
So, that's what Mom
and I did.
However, there was the
matter of telling Dad, an entirely different prospect all together.
We thought we had a little time- we ordered it on April 3rd and Gateway
kept telling me that it wouldn't even ship until April 19th.
Imagine our surprise
when it appeared on April 7th, when I was back at school. Dad was
not happy.
However, he let me keep
the computer and he brought it up to me on the 12th. Now, I have
a new happy computer with a happy printer. I named the computer Julian,
a good strong name for a good computer.
As for Easter Break,
I really didn't do much, again. Mom and I went out shopping for some
new clothes (man, you should have seen the Master Card bill after my new
computer, printer, and $200 worth of clothes were put on it!). On
Easter, my parents and I went out for lunch and they gave me a bunch of
candy, which I ate some and left some at home, to stop my ever expanding
waist from becoming even bigger.
