Wednesday and Thursday, August 26-27
Classes began on these days.  I had French and barely understood anything.  I went to Ancient Mediterranean Civilizations and thought it was okay.  The next day was math and I was ecstatic to find that Mr. Stebbins really didn't expect me to like math and was pretty cool about his attendance policy.  I had Rhetoric and found it to be interesting, but I didn't get a good impression of how much work we'd do in it that first day.  Philosophy was a trip.  One boy, Ethan, literally told our teacher that studying Plato was crap.  Ever since, Philosophy has been an interesting experience.

Monday, September 14
The major event for this day was Club Day On The Mall.  Club Day On The Mall, is, well, exactly what it sounds like.  Each club sets up an information table out on the Residence Mall.  Some pass out free stuff, like the Navigators, who gave me a free Coke, and some don't, like the Archeology Society, which just had a lone person sitting behind a table, with a lone sign up sheet.  The English club almost attacked me when I walked up to their table.  I signed up for five clubs (none of which gave me any free stuff <pout>) and I haven't gone to any one of the meetings so far.  I'm deluged with work.  I will, however, get to at least one club meeting this year, I promise.  To anyone in the English Club, the Archeology Society, the Xavier Yearbook, the Literacy Club, or the Mermaid's Tavern- see you sometime this year.

Family Weekend- Saturday, August 26
My parents, the little traitors, went on a Caribbean cruise the week of Family Weekend, so, I couldn't go with them.  However, my Aunt Terri agreed to go with me.  She brought along my cousins, Chris, a freshman at LaSalle Highschool , and Valerie, who is in seventh grade at Little Flower elementary.
First thing Saturday morning was a riverboat ride brunch.  The food was great, the ride pretty enjoyable.  We had a good time talking with other people about the school and seeing the sites along the Ohio River. We then came back to the dorm and I showed them my room.  Valerie was thoroughly enchanted with the dorm and, when it was time to leave, she didn't want to.
But before it was time for them to leave, we had to visit Family Fun Fest, a set of blow up rides, face painting, and caricature set up on the Residential Mall (everything is set up on the Residential Mall).  My cousins and aunt tried the Velcro wall.  I am not brave enough for the Velcro wall, but, I did happily ride the giant blow up slide and I got into the moon walk area for a few minutes.  Chris and Valerie played on the slide and moon walk for quite awhile, but, then, it was time for them to go home.
I rode back to their house with them and saw their new kittens.  The kittens were only three weeks old and so adorable!  I wished I could have one, but, pets aren't allowed at the dorm (not that I'd truly want a cat here, too expensive and messy).  My aunt and I then came back to Xavier and had dinner at the Musketeer Inn.  We hung around for awhile in my dorm and then we went to Casino Night.
Casino Night was extremely fun.  We started out with about 25 chips each and I ended up with 107 and Terri left with 87, I think.  We played High/Low (you roll the dice and then the dealer tries to beat that number), Bars and Bells only it was a wheel game, Big Low Six, and some other games.  The dealers mainly didn't care about collecting our losses but were more than generous with the payoffs.  I went home with a large white teddy bear I intended to give my boyfriend on Sweetest Day, but, since we aren't dating anymore, I'm not giving it to him.  My aunt took home two male shaving kits filled with everything a person could need on a road trip.
All in all, it was a pretty fun day.
