My Academic Achievement award  February 1- Awards Ceremony
I was honored and thrilled to be invited to the Office of Residence Life Awards Ceremony for Academic Achievement.  This exclusive event was only for students who achieved a 3.3 GPA or higher last semester.  I was debating whether or not to go when my peer adviser, Gretchen, told me that we get some sort of little prize.  Now, since I'm paying almost $20,000 a year to go to Xavier, I figure that I deserve whatever little free thing they'll give me.   My dad wanted to attend, also, so, he tagged along (one of only two parents there, but, that's okay, he's cool).  I got a certificate and, as my prize, I got a crappy little clock.
I know that I should be grateful for my crappy little clock, and I am, it's just that it is, well, crappy.  The display keeps fading in and out on it, it's hard to set, and, though it's not big, it takes up room on my desk.  So, the crappy clock was sent home with my dad.
All and all, it was a pretty cool awards ceremony.  They also had food and drinks, a guest speaker, and I got to shake hands with a priest.

...And now that I look at the scan of the award, I see that my name is spelled wrong! Ugh!

Roommate Update
Ashley and I are getting along famously.  Tis a good thing, too- I was not going to be happy if we didn't.  Having Ashley around is a cool thing.  She and I feel no tension towards each other and we talk freely and openly.  She doesn't mind me taking naps in the afternoon and she isn't bothered by my snoring.  She doesn't care that my life is ruled by the TV and she inspires me to keep working on homework.  Happily, we have similar tastes in music and she's also an English major.  Overall, I'm extremely satisfied with the situation and she seems to be too.
A very happy thing- she's going to be my suite mate next year!  Yay!  I'm very excited, because I was able to live in the substance free wing of the ground floor of Kuhlman Hall.  Ashley and Stephanie are going to be my suite mates and other friends of mine, Katie, Katie, Heather, and Amy (my original roommate) are also going to be living on that floor.  Pray that Lauren, my RA this year, becomes RA of the ground floor.  She has already put in a request and we'd all really like her to get the job.  We love Lauren. :)
